If you love your babysitter…

I’m sure my brother and I felt a bit anxious as we watched my parents put on their coats. I’ll bet we asked them to stay home, told them we didn’t want (or perhaps didn’t need) a babysitter.

But I don’t remember any of that.

All I remember is that Kimberly, our babysitter, let us drink chocolate milk before bed. She let us put on our pajamas and then go outside to play as the sun set. She carried us to bed when we pretended to be asleep.

My children will have similar memories. My daughter already does. Of babysitters who love them. Who make Mom and Dad’s special night out special for them too. Who spoil lightly and care deeply.

Babysitters become a part of our lives. A part of our children’s memories and childhoods. A part of our families.

Share with the world how much you love your sitter. Nominate him or her to win Sittercity’s 2013 America’s Top Sitter contest. And let’s recognize these amazing people who will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

To nominate your sitter, head over to Sittercity’s contest page by February 25. Upload your favorite photo of your sitter and share all of the ways in which he or she rocks. All submissions (that’s photos and descriptions) will be viewable on Sittercity’s Facebook page so that, from an expertly chosen list of ten finalists, the Sittercity Facebook community can vote to chose the winner. Voting will take place from March 5 – 15. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 and the honor of being named America’s Favorite Sitter. But I bet all nominated sitters will enjoy a little extra bounce in their step, knowing the family they love, loves them right back.
