Weekly Gratitude #57: F as in flu

This week was brought to us by the letter ‘F.’

As in flu.

Though I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t another ‘f’ word on the tip of my tongue…

Fortunately, baby boy and I have remained healthy (you can’t see it but I just knocked on wood). But M and big sister, they came down. Four days of school missed this week. Three days of a fever north of 100 degrees. Countless doses of ibuprofen and tylenol.

And now, my Mom has come down with it too, officially postponing her trip here that we had scheduled for next week.

This flu sucks, people.

And that’s about all I’ve got for this week.

Except… that through the haze of tissues and coughs and fevers, I still have to be grateful for…

… neighbors who bring soup and handmade get-well cards.

… a brief, solitary escape to the grocery store for some milk and a cup of coffee.

… baby bath time. you do what you can to entertain a sick, sleepy child who just doesn’t want to sit still.

… first movies. If not when your sick, then when? (for the record, the very first: Finding Nemo. Second: Cinderalla. And third: Tinkerbell (this one may go by a different name – all I know is Tinkerbell was prominently featured and didn’t want to be a ‘tinker fairy.’))

… thermometers.

… new blankets. seriously, new blankets are wonderful.

… baby giggles.

This week’s photo-365 round-up.

  1. I love the idea of a weekly gratitude list. This week I would have to be grateful for new spiral notebooks for school, patient children at the doctors office (for a two hour wait), new friends at “The Dailey Method” where I am working out, and fuzzy blankets. Because I, too, amd always grateful for blankets!

    Happy Sharefest!

  2. Oh no, Tricia … the flu?! Ick. I’m knocking on wood for you, too.

Open some windows and let (even cold) fresh air in the rooms the kids aren’t in … that always makes me feel like I’m giving myself a fighting chance against germs.

Wish I lived closer … I’d be stopping over with an emergency coffee for you!
