Weekly Gratitude #29

Sometimes, the way we cross the threshold to the week sets the week’s tone. A Monday morning that flows smoothly can be a sign of a week free of resistance. On the flip side, it can be tough to break free from the grips of an awful Sunday night or fiasco-plagued Monday morning.

I’m sure this has more to do with self-fulfilling prophecies than anything else. But still, it holds true.

So I did not have high hopes when I woke on Monday morning.

But this week? Well it pleasantly surprised me. We turned it around. And, moment-by-redeeming-moment, day-by-lovely-day, this week bloomed into a series of beautiful memories.

And so, this week I am thankful for the ways we made lemonade out of lemons. I’m thankful for..

… the perspective found in the aftermath of moments we’d like to forget.

… our parenting partnership.

… my active little boy whose happy dance parties keep me confident that all is well in there.

… sweet, sweet moments with my little girl. She was my focus this week, spending quality time with her and making these last only-child moments count. And oh do they count.

… blog help. I finally got around to taking a good look at my blog and how I might improve it; M jumped right in and granted my every wish.

… family dinners. We eat together every night. And I’m starting to realize just how rare that is (and that it won’t always be achievable) so I’m loving our family dinners while we have them.

… the heat. Yes, I am thankful for the oppressive heat in the DC area this week. Because without that terrible heat, Baby and I would have had no reason to stay inside and paint, and craft, and prepare her little brother’s bedroom.

… family. Grandparents, aunts, and uncles who are always so eager to visit and to help.

Happy weekend, friends! It’s going to be a hot one here but we’re not going to let that stop us from continuing this lovely-moment trend.
