The first words my daughter uttered on Monday morning: “Is it the weekend now?”
She is hooked on weekends like most girls her age are hooked on Dora. She craves the family time. She longs for the laziness or even errand-filled busy-ness of Saturdays and Sundays in our home. Pajama mornings, Saturday morning cartoons, dessert after dinner, long afternoon trips to the park with Mommy AND Daddy. We’ve made the weekends the highlight of her week.
But when we spend every day talking about how many more days until the weekend, it makes for a very long week. The kind of week where you are certain today should be Friday, even though the calendar assures you it’s only Wednesday.
And so, this week, I am really thankful it’s Friday. More family comes into town this weekend and, despite the rain looming on the horizon for Saturday, I know it’s going to be a good one.
Despite all of the waiting for Friday, the week, as always, still had some good to offer us. This week, I am thankful for…
… Grandmoms. They love, they nurture, they guide, they help. They are here when we need them most.
… boxes. Every box we pack brings us closer to moving into our brand new home.
… the lovely women at The SITS Girls for featuring my writing this week.
… safe landings. Every time he travels I am on edge until the plan that brings him home lands safely on the ground.
… celebrating my Mom’s birthday with her. On her actual birthday. Haven’t done that since high school and it was lovely.
… yoga. It hurts but it hurts so good.
… community. Two weeks in a row, yes, but once again this week this lovely community of bloggers created a bright spot in my week. I love how we all share our ups, our downs, and how we process it all. Thank you for sharing your words.
… sunshine in between the rain. We’ve had more rain lately and it just makes me enjoy the sun even more.
What are you most thankful for this week? Write it down, type it out, link it up!
