Chip by chip

Oh Monday. You have left me scattered and tired. And wordless.

But, NaBloPoMo! I’m almost halfway there!

So I post a memory.

We did make cookies yesterday. Baby woke up from her nap feeling better and so into the kitchen we went.

She likes to fill the measuring cup. Chip by chip.

I let go of my inner control freak, gave her a cookie sheet and measuring spoon, and let her drop her own cookies.

If you want to make a toddler’s day, let them play with sugar and butter. There’s restorative power in that creamy sweetness. Then let them do something you’ve never let them do before. ROCK their WORLD. You won’t regret it.

Hope Monday rocked your world in all kinds of good ways.

  1. It’s so hard to let go of the inner control freak, isn’t it? I’m glad you had a great day after all.

  2. I have found that baking with children requires tremendous amounts of patience! But in the end, it’s always worth it. What a sweet thing!

  3. I cannot wait to begin introducing my son to being a helper with baking. In fact, I know he is still really little…but there must be some way to include him. Perhaps I will try something tomorrow? Thanks for the inspiration.
